Vertical lift module

A vertical lift module is a tower of trays that brings the one you ask for down to the bay, where a light bar tells you which slot to pick from and how many units. Two identical towers pick the same 12 orders: one an order at a time, the other grouping orders into batches.

What you're looking at

  • The tower 20 stacked trays. Bringing a tray to the bay takes about 8 seconds plus 0.4 for every level the lift travels, both ways.
  • The light bar (pick-to-light) It shows the slot (column and row, e.g. 5B), how many units to pick and which tote they go into. Each pick takes 4 seconds plus 1.5 per unit.
  • One order at a time Each order calls its own trays, even when the next order needs the same one.
  • In batches Several orders are grouped, each tray is called once for all of them and the trays are visited in order, like a lift: up first, then back down. Each order goes into its own tote.
